The Evergreen Childcare Community offers before and after school care for currently-enrolled students. Children, arriving at school between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., spend time reading, playing and creating artwork in the Evergreen classroom.
Young students, who require rest each day, also nap in the Evergreen Community in the afternoons.
At the close of our school-day program, 2:30 p.m., all children gather in the Evergreen classroom for the remainder of the day. At this time, imaginative play, arts and crafts, Lego and block construction, large motor and other social development activities are all options to engage the children.
The Montessori Playground: An Outdoor Classroom
At Children’s Day Montessori, we acknowledge the child’s innate curiosity for nature. Our playground provides an outdoor classroom that includes strawberry patches, vegetable and sensorial gardens. Outdoor time is built into our daily class schedule; ensuring students have the opportunity for large motor cooperative social time. Through their experiences on the playground, the children:
- Develop an attitude of stewardship for the Earth
- Nurture a respect for all living things
- Experience the interconnected relationships in nature
- Learn the value of collaborative effort
- Develop social skills through group play with their peers
